“Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a process that allows practitioners to maintain, enhance and advance their professional knowledge and skills. It also plays a central role in personal development and growth, allowing practitioners to reach their full potential. CPD provides quality assurance and standards for the profession. It also helps to guarantee the safety of the public hence preserving the integrity of practitioners and the profession. Requirements for annual renewal of accreditation for therapists is at least 30 hours of CPD.”

(Excerpt from www.iacp.ie)

I  am an accredited member of The Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy  and Continuous Professional Development is an implemented requirement of this membership. We are now reaccredited annually as opposed to five yearly. I will update this page on the anniversary of my accreditation allowing you to see the CPD I have completed in the previous year and the work I am doing currently.
2021 CPD GOALS
I have been offered a place with Hakomi London to attend  the Preparation for Hakomi Practitioner Certification  course, 14th March - 17th September 2021.
I will also be attending other Hakomi Ireland and Hakomi London trainings, Hakomi Supervison and Hakomi Therapy throughout this year.

As a Clinical Supervisor I will be attending various iacp Supervsior forums to support my CPD requirements for 2021.
CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT 2019
In 2019 I concentrated on the completion of my 3 year training in the Hakomi Method, and thankfully I completed this in November of this year. This was not only achieved by attending official Hakomi Trainings but also attending the various workshops and practice groups thoughout the year. I received  regular mentoring  with a Certified HEN Practitioner. A fellow therapist/supervisor and myself also met to discuss Hakomi in our therapy and supervision  practices.

I developed an interest in The Hakomi Method many years ago when I attended a workshop given by the late Ron Kurtz, founder of the principal. I have attended many Hakomi gatherings since and I am near completion of my third of three years of training. You can watch a Hakomi Session on my website. I am about to commence module two  of my third year in Hakomi Training this June 2019.

It is with great pleasure that I announce the completion of Year 1 & Year 2 of my Hakomi training and also completion of Module 1 of year 3.

Dublin Counselling & Therapy Centre, Diploma in Supervision  - QUALIFIED AND ACCREDITED  DECEMBER 2017

I am attending the Diploma in Supervision with the  Dublin Counselling & Therapy Centre (www.dctc.ie) as I have now
have achieved the entry requirements based on my qualifications and experience. This diploma course focuses on the Cyclical Model of Steve Page and Val Wosket while incorporating other supervision approaches. Upon completion, I will be qualified to supervise the work of others counsellors and supervisors. I am really enjoying this new dimension of working in the area of counselling and psychotherapy.

“ ‘ a quintessential interpersonal interaction with the general goal that one person, the supervisor, meets with another, the supervisee, in an effort to make the latter more effective in helping people.”

                                                                                                                                             (Hawkins, Shohet 2000:50 (Hess 1980:25)

It is with great pleasure I announce my successful completion of this course and my subsequent Accreditation with the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.

Hakomi Study Group

A fellow Hakomi colleague and myself formed a Hakomi Study Group in the summer of 2017. We  work from the book, Hakomi MIndfulness-Centered Somatic Psychotherapy, A Comprehensive Guide to Theory and Practice by Weiss, Johnson & Mondo, while incorporating experiential exercises from The Hakomi Method Handbook from Ron Kurtz Trainings. We are both Clinical Supervisors as well as Psychotherapists and therefore can collaboratively work with client issues with  a supportive Hakomi approach.
We are now enjoying enriching our Hakomi practice due to the publication this year, 2018 , of "The Hakomi Way, Consciousness & Healing ", authored by Ron Kurtz and described as his legacy.
